Learning

Summit is dedicated to excellence in education that pursues academic growth through Christ. Classes are taught in a traditional classroom setting with small class sizes, allowing teachers to give personal attention to each student. Our school hours are Monday – Thursday from 8:30 AM to 3:15 PM and Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Our students regularly score
in the top 30% nationally

Curriculum

All phases of the curriculum are directed to assist in the ultimate development of the whole child. Emphasis is placed upon student mastery of academic fundamentals and spiritual development.

To accomplish that, Summit Christian School uses mostly Bob Jones University Press (BJUP) textbooks in all grades, from our preschool classes through 8th grade. The textbooks are written from the standpoint that the Bible is the ultimate source of authority. Not only do the textbooks meet the requirements of state standards and conventions, but they also incorporate Scripture references, questions that provoke Biblical thought, and side-bars (appropriate to the age of the students) that connect the content information with a Biblical worldview. Our goal is that students learn to see every part of life through the lens of Scripture.

National Testing Scores

MAPS Growth Testing is administered every Spring. The objective for Summit's testing is to assess whether we are maintaining our standards, exceeding state standards, and measuring student growth. Our students regularly score in the top 30% nationally.

Early Learning

Summit Christian School is a nurturing and loving Christian community that offers developmentally age-appropriate programs. Each age group gathers for instruction from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM daily. Schedule choices can vary anywhere from two to five days per week. See the class options available and the related tuition schedule.

We offer developmentally

Curriculum

Each early education class has been carefully designed to foster the development of the whole child. Bible instruction and application of its principles are integral parts of all instruction in the classroom, which creates a heart for God and learning. We use Bob Jones Curriculum for Threes and Fours as a precursor to the Bob Jones Curriculum used for grades K-8 here at Summit, with an additional Bible curriculum chosen to suit the developmental level of each early education class. Included in the curriculum are:

  • Pre-math skills (number recognition, one-to-one correspondence)

  • Pre-reading (phonemic awareness, upper and lower case letter recognition)

  • Critical thinking and listening skills

  • Music and movement

  • Art

  • Imaginative play

  • Field trips

  • Extra-curricular activities (provided on site by outside vendors at an additional cost)

We emphasize verbal communication with teachers
and peers to express ideas and feelings.

Within the classroom community your child will be encouraged to become both self-sufficient and develop an awareness of others. Daily, children practice working together, demonstrating obedience and responsibility for their surroundings through routines and classroom jobs. We emphasize verbal communication with teachers and peers to express ideas and feelings. In the event of a conflict between children, we teach effective problem solving through acknowledgement of feelings, repentance and prayer. These skills will promote confidence and a sense of what is right which will equip children for a successful future.

Middle
School

Middle School at Summit Christian School is a place where students are known, challenged, and encouraged as they grow into the young men and women God has created them to be. During these important years, we provide a Christ-centered environment that supports students academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. With small class sizes and caring teachers, students receive individualized instruction while developing meaningful mentoring relationships that help them navigate the transition into adolescence with confidence and purpose.

Our middle school program emphasizes academic excellence, biblical truth, servant leadership, and character development. Students are encouraged to think critically, communicate effectively, and take ownership of their learning while applying God's Word to everyday life. Through engaging coursework, leadership opportunities, and a strong sense of community, Summit equips students to grow in wisdom, integrity, and faith—preparing them to make a lasting impact as disciples of Jesus Christ in high school, their communities, and beyond.

We support the academic, spiritual, and social growth of every middle school student.

Our students participate and worship through music

At our weekly chapel services, students participate and worship through music and hear a message from visiting pastors and speakers.

Our weekly music program introduces our students to all aspects of performance, including vocals and drama. Two highlights of our school year are when our students share special performances during the Christmas and Spring concerts.
